Controls

Duplex Control Panel

Pumping Services offers a variety of different control options as stand-alone or as accessories to the other equipment that we rent. Our field service crews frequently install temporary controls as an emergency measure when the existing control system has suffered a catastrophic failure. Once the system is up and running we have the time to design, build and install a new permanent control system. Our Panel-Line Control Division manufactures the pump control panels we rent and it offers new controls as well. The following controls are available for rent.

Simplex Pump Controls

These controls are designed to operate one pump automatically. The controls are supplied with three floats and are designed to turn the pump on, turn the pump off and generate a high level alarm at levels determined in the field by the placement of the floats. The on, off and high level floats are clearly marked for ease of installation. These panels are frequently rented together with a submersible pump in a temporary application so that the pump can run unattended. The components of the control panel must be sized according to the horsepower of the pump it will run.

Duplex Pump Controls

These controls are designed to operate two pumps automatically. The system is designed so that the pumps alternate operation giving the application the security of two pumps in the event one stops functioning or the inflow exceeds the capability of one pump. The controls are generally supplied with four floats and the levels are set in the field to turn one pump on, turn one pump off, turn both pumps on and generate a high level alarm. The on, off, both on, and high level floats are clearly marked for ease of installation. These panels are frequently rented together with two submersible pumps in a temporary sewage bypass applications so that the two pumps can run alternately. The components in the control panel must be sized according to the horsepower of the pumps it will run.

Transfer Switches

Transfer Switches

An automatic transfer switch will automatically start up a generator in response to a loss of line voltage and shut down the generator once power is restored. Pumping Services rents automatic transfer switches as an accessory to its rental generators. This allows the operator the security of backup power to run its critical equipment in highly sensitive applications. Transfer switches must be sized according to the load they are expected to carry.

Soft Starts

Soft starts are required to start larger motors without a huge surge in power that can damage the windings of the motor. Pumping Services rents soft starts as an accessory to its larger electric pump rentals. Soft starts must be sized according to the horsepower of the pump they will run.

Dialers

Automatic alarm dialers are available to remotely monitor a critical pump application. This equipment can be programmed to automatically dial a series of phone numbers or pagers in response to a predetermined list of faults. These faults might include loss of power and high-level alarms. The dialer will continue to dial the programmed numbers with the error message until the fault is acknowledged by an operator response. A phone line on site is required.
