History

Dee Parkhurst and Ed Funkhouser established Pumping Services, Inc. in 1970 as the Flygt portable submersible pump distributor for the Northern New Jersey area. The company specialized in the sales, rental and service of pumps and hose and new products were added to meet customer needs. In 1980 the company constructed a new facility at 368 Lincoln Boulevard in Middlesex, New Jersey.

In the late 1980’s Pumping Services began to increase the sophistication of its product and service offerings. Pumps, controls and accessories for permanently installed pump stations and other engineered applications were added. The company services what it sells and therefore the Service Department was expanded to support the increasingly sophisticated needs of these products.

In 1990, the company introduced an Employee Stock Ownership Plan and became an employee owned company. This has strengthened the organization and helped us to develop a team approach to business that you will not find elsewhere. In the late 1990’s the company required additional space and the adjoining property at 398 Lincoln Boulevard was purchased.

In early 2007, we completed the renovation of an industrial property down the street at 201 Lincoln Blvd. and moved the entire operation to the 45,000 square foot facility.

As we move through the 21st century, we are expanding our efforts for engineered products in the water and wastewater markets. We have added an in house engineering group with full time engineers to assist our customers with their applications and we now represent numerous lines of equipment for both treatment and collection systems. This evolution has culminated in our decision to market our engineered products under the PSI Process and Equipment brand.

ITS joined Pumping Services in 2015 further solidifying our design and field service capabilities for control and instrumentation projects.

In our 50th year in business, we launched our powerful new logo. The water drop, pump symbol and green accent represent our continued commitment to conserving the world’s precious water resources by providing innovative and energy efficient pumping and treatment solutions.

In 2023 we added TC Tech. In addition to their strong regional reputation and best-in-class technologies, TC Tech brings key treatment partners to the PSI Linecards.

Today, we employ approximately 60 people and we are expanding our sales coverage to adjacent areas including the New York metropolitan area while constantly looking for new products to better serve the water and wastewater industries.
