The field service mechanic will work with an assistant in the field servicing pumping systems, generally sewage lift stations. A sewage lift station is made up of pumps, piping, valves, control system, access covers as well as other accessories. The type of service we provide includes emergency troubleshooting and repair of all components of a pump station, preventive maintenance programs, complete station retrofit and completely new pump station installations.
The field service mechanic will work with a crane equipped service truck and be responsible for supervising an assistant. All safety equipment and larger tools are provided but it is expected that the mechanic will provide his own basic hand tools.
It is expected that a field service mechanic will take part in and adhere to Pumping Service’s safety programs. These programs are important to the safety of our employees and in conveying our image of a professional organization committed to safe operating procedures.
The hours of work may be long and irregular. If an outside service crew is in the middle of a job at normal quitting time, they cannot just pack up and leave. Getting in on time in the morning is also extremely important because outside servicemen work in crews and have commitments to customers to start work at a certain time.
The field service mechanic, like all our employees, does not have a limited job description but is expected to do the work required to meet our customer’s needs. At times he will work in the shop on customer/rental equipment and accessories.
We require that all applicants have a valid New Jersey driver’s license with a clean driving record.
Training both in-house and away will be given.

The shop mechanic will work in our shop repairing customer equipment brought in for repair and maintaining our rental equipment. The types of equipment serviced are pumps, generators and other related items. The pumps are electric submersible, diesel driven, gasoline driven, air operated among others.
Pumping Services, Inc. does not require that the applicant have specific experience repairing pumps but it does expect some mechanical experience and the ability to learn quickly. The successful candidate will be sent to manufacturer’s product schools as part of the training process.
The shop mechanic, like all our employees, does not have a limited job description but is expected to do the work required to meet our customer’s needs. In addition to shop repairs, the shop mechanic from time to time will be expected to assist in the maintenance of the shop, warehouse and vehicles, makeup and test hose, make deliveries and pick-ups and work in the field service area maintaining equipment at customer locations.

Pumping Services, Inc. does not hire career drivers. We look for candidates with mechanical aptitude who will advance with time to be a mechanic. The primary driving responsibilities are delivering and picking up equipment and accessories. The area of operation includes New Jersey, Metropolitan New York and Long Island, Connecticut and Eastern Pennsylvania although we occasionally go outside of this area. When not on the road, the driver will assist mechanics, maintain the shop, warehouse and vehicles, and makeup and test hose which is a strenuous activity. The driver/trainee mechanic, like all our employees, does not have a limited job description but is expected to do the work required to meet our customer’s needs.
